Slávka Otčenášová

I come from Prešov, Slovakia. I studied History at the University of Prešov and at the Central European University in Budapest. Currently I conduct my PhD. studies at the Institute of History in Prešov and work as a research assistant at the Department of History at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. In my research I deal with the patterns of the creating of collective identities and memories, especially in the textbook production. I have been involved in several projects researching on historiography, memory and identity in Slovakia.
I decided to apply to Geschichtswerkstatt Europa with my project on WWII memorials and their public usage in Slovakia and Bosnia-Herzegovina which stems both from my academic and personal interests.
